Greetings fellow readers!
As the year continues on, my work life gets busier and busier. Sadly, I had not realized just how busy this last week would be for me. Due to that, I did not get nearly as much done as I'd wanted, but I actually surprised myself with meeting a goal, nonetheless. Let's talk about it.
Name: Reforged
I have written for Reforged every day since I started in late December. That has remained true for this week as well, though I have written far fewer this week than I ever have since starting this project.
Last week, I filled seven chapters with over 9000 words. This week, I finished three chapters and had a combined total of 3,492 words. So instead of averaging over 1,300 words a day, I averaged about 499 words a day.
Some writers might look at this and feel frustrated. "Why can't I write so much every week? I could get so much more done if I did!" Thankfully, I do not have these feelings. I used to, back when I first started writing so many years ago, but those frustrations are more or less gone now. I recognize that work can make you really busy and can often take away precious writing time. Since I never want to compromise the quality of my words, the quantity is what suffers.
But I'd rather have 3,000 good words during a busy week than force 9,000 bad words out (most of which would likely need to be removed during the editing process). So I'm happy with my progress this week.
Especially since I actually reached my goal: Reforged, in terms of scene numbers, is halfway done.
Last week I predicted I was 40-45% of the way done. Turns out, I was 47-48% of the way done. Despite not writing as much as I had originally wanted, I happened to reach the goal I'd set for myself.
I'm not going to make a goal for this week. For all intents and purposes, it will be even busier at work for me than last (and last week was brutal). But still, I will write every day. I look forward to seeing how things progress over the coming week and telling all of you about it next Sunday!
Secret Project
Remember when I said this project took the greatest amount of time and effort? Remember I said how busy work was this week?
Yeah, I got nothing done with this. I'd like to get some work done on it over the next week. Honestly, though, I'm not going to stress about it. If I get some stuff done, I get it done. If not, then not.
Hence why it's a secret project. I'm not even sure if it'll ever see the light of day. I need to guarantee consistency before I do anything with it. Right now, thanks to work being how it is (and also have a life outside of doing these creative things), I do not have that consistency.
Here's to hoping I can at least get something done on this next week!
In any case, that's the update for this week. The new CLANN scenes dropping this week are good building blocks for the story. We're almost halfway done with the first one, by the way, so things are beginning to pick up. I hope you enjoy them and I will see you all for next week's update!
