Greetings fellow readers!
One of my favorite things about one of my favorite authors, Brandon Sanderson, is that he writes a lot. It is also good that he writes consistently and creates very entertaining stories. In these regards, he is a writer many authors should aspire to emulate.
There is another thing he does toward which I am eternally grateful: he updates his fans on his progress.
So to Sanderson's sight, scroll down a bit (as of the time of writing this) and bam! Progress wheels. They inform fans of what Sanderson is currently working on so we can all see when we will get his next product.
I really wish more authors did this. Knowing that I have to wait at least six years for the next Stormlight Archive book is far more bearable than being uncertain when the next Kylar Chronicles book will arrive. No shade thrown to Brent Weeks here. The man's one of my favorite authors and he also tells some of my favorite stories, and I recently heard that his father passed somewhat recently which, of course, would make writing difficult. All that said, it doesn't change the fact that uncertainty makes a wait more difficult than knowing when the next project is.
So, here is a chance for me to do the same. I don't know how to work a website like Sanderson's staff does, so here's the best I can give by way of a "progress bar" (or wheels, as they are now).
CLANN:
This series will be the major written text I post on Wyrm House. I have a lot of ideas and stories in mind for CLANN, so it will be remaining for a while yet. As of this date, five CLANN scenes have been posted on Wyrm House and three CLANN scenes have been posted on YouTube. But I already have the first five stories of CLANN written and ready to go. So as of now, there will be no interruptions for at least a year to CLANN's upload schedule.
For anyone curious, it took me nearly a year to write those five stories. And about a combined four-to-six weeks of editing for all five of those stories. So if I keep with that writing pace, then I can probably keep knocking out about five CLANN stories a year.
Also, I have the bear bones of outlines (just a few paragraphs) for CLANN stories 6-10. I will likely not get to work fully outlining those stories for a while yet, because...
Other Writing:
I'm writing a book! The series is called Name and the (tentative) title for the first book is called Reforged.
I would love one day to be an actual published author, so I am writing this book with publishing in mind. But once it's done, I think I will post a chapter daily on Wyrm House, to see what people think.
I know I'm not Brandon Sanderson, but he did something similar with Warbreaker and that seems to have worked out for him.
Anyway, Reforged is the first book of a sexology with two arcs. Basically, the first three books is one arc, the next three another, all wrapped together into a (hopefully) cohesive whole.
Reforged is split into three parts (yeah, I know, a lot of threes, but it makes organization pretty easy), and I am almost halfway done with part 2. For those great at counting, that means I am almost halfway done with the book.
I began the book in late December. I had a fantastic January writing, but life has gotten busy in early February and my progress went from high-octane to mud-trudging. I still write every day, just not as much as January. Though I am hoping to change that around this coming week. Realistically, I can get the first draft of this book done by mid-April, maybe early May if things go poorly.
After that, I will get straight to work on CLANN again. I'm really excited about it, too. After about four months away, I'm missing my traveling guild!
Secret Project:
There's been something I have been working on since July of last year. It's not the best of my creative endeavors and it's definitely been the most difficult to create, but I hope I can talk about it with you all soon. I am not even certain fi this project will see the light of day (hence the word "secret") but I would love to post my work on Wyrm House and hopefully reach a wider audience because of it. Just know I am working on something else.
Now that I have outlined what I have done in the year (or so) leading up to Wyrm House's release, the next weekly updates will focus on what I actually get done that week. I look forward to seeing you all there!
